Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Attorney

Our client is seeking an Attorney with experience in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) matters to join the Energy, Environmental, Mining, and Transportation Division, in our Washington, D.C. office. 

Qualified candidates will have at least three years of experience in regulatory counseling or litigation on FERC-related matters, including familiarity with FERC regulation under the Federal Power Act and Natural Gas Act, and knowledge of FERC’s regulations, procedures, and organization. Previous experience working at FERC is preferred, but not required. Qualified applicants will possess excellent academic credentials and have strong writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Clerkship and energy administrative and/or civil litigation experience are a plus.

In addition, the successful candidate should have the following experience and skills:

  • Significant responsibility for drafting memoranda, pleadings, motions, and/or briefs;
  • Experience working with teams of attorneys on litigated or regulatory matters;
  • Experience handling complex factual, legal, and procedural issues;
  • Proficiency handling e-discovery and factual investigation and development; and
  • The ability to apply creative, strategic, and analytical thinking to identify and resolve complex legal issues.

An active license in District of Columbia or the ability to waive in to practice in that jurisdiction is required.
