Salary: $175,000-$200,000 + benefits

A well-established law firm  is seeking an Associate with 3 to 5 years of experience to join its Land Use & Environmental practice in Los Angeles, Oakland, or San Diego. The team advises on sophisticated, large-scale development matters involving high-profile public and private projects throughout California.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex land use entitlements, regulatory permitting, and environmental review for projects that shape California’s communities and infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise public and private clients on land use entitlements, regulatory approvals, and environmental compliance
  • Handle matters involving CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act), planning, and zoning laws
  • Support and manage environmental review and permitting processes for large-scale development projects
  • Conduct legal research, draft briefs and memoranda, and assist with advocacy efforts
  • Collaborate with attorneys across offices on complex and high-stakes matters
  • Assist with land use and environmental litigation (preferred)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–5 years of relevant legal experience
  • Substantial experience with CEQA and California land use, planning, and zoning laws
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with strong communication skills
  • Land use or environmental litigation experience is a plus
