Our client has an opening in the San Francisco or Los Angeles office for a Counsel in our Labor & Employment Department. The ideal candidate will have nine to twelve years of relevant experience.
Qualifications: Juris Doctorate (JD) required. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of California.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Experience in defending against single plaintiff litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, reasonable accommodation.
- Experience with PAGA matters.
- Experience with class actions.
- Ability to work cases from start to finish, independently.
- Strong research, writing skills, and academic record.
- Experience drafting and responding to initial pleadings and discovery.
- Experience drafting and arguing motions including dispositive and discovery motions,
- Experience taking and defending deposition including taking plaintiffs deposition and defending deposition of corporate witnesses
- Experience in employment counseling on federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Smaller portable book would be ideal; but, not required.
Compensation & Benefits:
- The salary range for this position applies to California. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $270,000 - $290,000.
